Oxford MA Family Photos – What to Expect From Your Family Portrait Experience
Awhile ago, I started a line of posts about the different sessions I offer. Now it’s time for Family Sessions! Hopefully, weather will get nice again soon and everyone will be excited to be outside. Luckily, Family Sessions are great inside and outside. Here’s what you can expect when you book a family session with me!
Before the session, I will send you a questionnaire to get to know you and your family. Knowing names, ages, and interests of everyone involved helps me to know you all a little better. If we’ve done a session with me before, we usually skip this and get right to discussing details – location, date, props (if any), and clothing.
I love lending my opinions to outfit choices and people are always welcome to send me their options. I’m here to help you in any way that I can. I’ll keep an eye out on weather and sunset times to ensure the best conditions for your session. Together, we plan as best we can before the day and there are plenty of flexibility to change the plan up until the session.
I like to encourage families to pick a location that means something to them. That will add extra meaning to your family photos. Then, it’s important to think about what you’d like to do with the photos. If they’re to be used for Holiday Cards or if you’re looking for a new canvas for your home, think about the room it will be displayed in and consider that when picking your outfits and colors.
During the session, we’ll walk around and take a variety of photos in a variety of different spots. We’ll mix up posing and try a few different combinations. If your family has young children, I can often be found rolling around on the ground and jumping around for their amusement – anything for those smiles! In the end, everyone has a blast and we get great shots of your amazing family.
After the session, it takes about 1-2 weeks until your gallery of images is delivered. At that point, you’ll be able to setup an ordering session to go over everything together or get things right out of the gallery. I will also (unless the family wishes not to) make a blog post featuring the session.
