MA Elopement Photographer – Becca + Madison

This year is going to be a lot of me talking about 2020 weddings. It’s no secret that couples planning weddings had a rough time. While it taught us that what matters is the love part, not the party part…we all still want the party. I think the most popular trend was the marry now, party later strategy. That’s what Becca + Madison did.

Their wedding was supposed to be at the end of August and it still happened at the end of August surrounded by Becca + Madison’s closest inner circle. Not that extended family don’t matter, but there’s something really nice about getting to celebrate with the people closest to you. Becca + Madison chose to keep their original date and postpone the wedding to exactly a year later.

I always make a point to connect with couples on a deeper level. When I arrive the morning of a wedding, I want it to feel like a trusted friend just showed up to document your day. With these postponed weddings, in a lot of cases, we will have been in each other’s lives for two years (or sometimes more). I feel strongly that we’re in each other’s corners and supporting each other through these rough times.

Anyways! It had been about a year before that I met Becca + Madison for their engagement photos (a session that’s still one of my favorites) and I was able to photograph their elopement ceremony (or mini-mony) in Worcester. There was a threat of rain, but otherwise, it was a beautiful summer day. They got married on a hill with a GORGEOUS stone wall and recited vows in front of a select group of family and friends. Their wedding party made sure everything went off without a hitch and made them feel extra special. They were still able to decorate and throw their personal touch onto things (Sunflowers + Disney – two of my favorite things).

Once their intimate ceremony was over, we photographed family quickly, and moved onto another scenic area of Green Hill Park. The sun had come out and we got a beautiful glow as we wrapped up photos of just Becca + Madison. I could tell it was such a relief for them to get to have this momentous moment they envisioned. They brought along a rainbow umbrella and captured their happiness amongst the flowers and fountain.

I’ve loved getting to know these two and their people. Their love for each other is so clear, it’s been a privilege to be in a small part of their journey. I know Becca + Madison’s party next year will be just as wonderful. Here’s to hoping we get to celebrate somewhat this year!
