CT Wedding Photographers – Brittney + Pat

Another one of my socially distanced weddings from 2020 was Brittney + Pat! When the pandemic threatened their date multiple times, the couple decided to opt for an Airbnb wedding. It was a great location full of light on a lake. It was gorgeous and as the sun got low, there was a glow through the trees that is every photographer’s dream.
Because of the pandemic and trying to minimize time inside, details and getting ready was short and sweet. Brittney + Pat got ready on different floors surrounded by friends. The house opened up to a big yard that ended at a super pretty lake. The ceremony was setup on the lawn, with masks for guests. The reception was setup in a tent with long tables to maintain distance.
Before the ceremony, Brittney wanted a first look, but with her dad. Their family had lost their mom awhile back and this was clearly super emotional for them to have this milestone without her. The first look with her dad was super sweet and you could tell there was so much love and support in their family.
The Ceremony
The ceremony started with a close group of family and friends. Everyone looked amazing and Brittney’s main goal was to capture Pat’s reaction as she came down the aisle. One of my favorite parts of weddings is seeing how happy family and friends are for the couple. And how you can see love all around you, both in the couple and with their family and friends. Brittney + Pat were both super silly and sweet. Their ceremony was filled with emotions and laughter.
Afterwards, we took photos in the glowing sun. I was mesmerized by the sun coming through the trees and insisted we do some family photos there as well as photos with just Brittney + Pat. We also utilized a cute boat house and ramp to take wedding party photos as well. The whole grounds were super cute and added a uniqueness to Brittney + Pat’s photos.
The Reception
The reception was super intimate and fun. Dances were sweet and speeches were funny and touching. One thing I love about more casual weddings is the food. Brittney + Pat served pizza and it was SO GOOD. As the reception went on, it was just friends and family having a good time hanging out. The tent helped keep everyone warm.
All in all, a great day. I’ve really felt for couples this year struggling to make their dreams happen. It’s been nice to see people make the most of a bad year and safely celebrate these meaningful events. Congratulations to Brittney + Pat!
