Celebrating Families part one
Celebrating families part one is something that I’ve been thinking about for awhile now. It all started while writing another blog post. I started to think about what a unique position I get to be in as a family portrait photographer. It’s a perspective of life where I get to experience quiet and fun moments between family members from the outside. It’s fun to see people interact.
I’ve also been thinking a lot about progress lately. My own personal progress, specifically and I’m getting to a really fun point now where I have photographed the same families multiple times. I stated thinking about their growth as families and it’s something really beautiful I get to witness.
I want to help people stop and think about these moments. It’s easy to get wrapped up in how fast life moves that we don’t always step back and look at how far we’ve come. Because of this, I’ve decided to put together some posts #celebratingfamilies. Now that it’s spring, I will be going through and celebrating the special families that let me photograph them. Especially, the families I’ve gotten to know as they grow.
The Provencal Family!
I wanted to start with Marissa and her family as they are very special to me. Delaney was my first newborn session and model. I’ve had a lot of fun with them and have got to see their family grow and grow. I’ve photographed them so much that putting their photos into a collage, I had to break them down into three groups: Delaney, Austin, and Family!
From left to right we have newborn, three month, six month, one year, christmas mini session, two year, and her most recent family mini-session photos. I think it’s safe to say this girl is now very comfortable in front of a camera!
Austin hasn’t had quite as many sessions, but give it time. We’ve still got quite a few mini-sessions under our belts. I really love the last photo in that group. They are just too cute.
Finally, the whole family:
It’s a lot of fun looking back at where we started. Find more of these guys all over the blog.
I’ll be trying to roll these out on Fridays (because #familyfridays has a nice ring to it) and I’ll be posting these on the blog and on Instagram (which you can find here or at the top of the page, if you don’t already follow)! I will be posting another story like this next week. Keep checking back!
Next week, I will be posting my own personal progress as a photographer. I’m excited to reflect on how things have changed and see how fast things change. Stay tuned!
